Dear Patriots! This is not a time to stay at home!  Phone calls and emails will not be enough.  The Legislature is working on Bills that will have far reaching and devastating effects for the citizens of New Mexico. Please read the URGENT information regarding the various Bills scheduled for the upcoming week.  PLEASE PLAN TO ATTEND AS M ANY SESSIONS AS YOU CAN … AND BRING FRIENDS!Photo Voter ID Update

Where to get contact information for Legislators

Remember that you can sign up for text alerts on your phone – just email us at SantaFePatriots@live.com and send us your cell phone number.  Jose Vasquez is coordinating those alerts.

Also, word from my contact at the Legislature is that Republican already oppose these Bills, so you do not need to contact them.  It is better to simply focus your efforts on the Democrats

If you call or visit and find a Democrat that supports our position, be sure to thank them.    Remember, that it is not simply a battle between Democrats and Republicans, but more accurately, it is a battle between traditional Democrats and Republicans on one side and the far left, secular progressives on the other side.  There is more that unites traditional Democrats and Republicans (as well as Independents and Libertarians) than divides us, and we are the majority.  The citizens of New Mexico and the Country are still of a center-right mentality.  But the far left progressives are well-financed (think George Soros and others like him) who are targeting New Mexico, just as they targeted Colorado last election cycle.  We cannot let them get control of our great state!

HB 97 – Require Photo Voter ID & Free ID CardsThis message from Victor Contreras, head of Hispanos Unidos – the group leading the charge on Photo Voter ID: We must inundate the Rotunda with sign-carrying protestors, fill the appropriate committee meeting rooms, and go see the governor during public access hours. However, be warned, they keep wanting to confuse, diffuse, and misinform us as to schedules, actions, and voting. We should keep the calls, emails, and faxes pouring. I heard the Gov. receptionists are not taking any more calls. Our legislators are using all the dirty tricks in the book to have their way. The biggest push will be the SAME DAY REGISTRATION. We must stop them. We have to wrestle our government back. Our day has come. It is now or never.

You have seen our commercials. Hispanos Unidos is ready to produce commercials to counter attack this onslaught. BUT WE NEED FUNDING. It roughly runs us one thousand dollars per day for state wide TV coverage. Ten thousand would could make an impact, twenty could do serious damage to the Democrats. We do not tire of saying that if we do not get Photo ID at the polls passed and kill Same Day Registration, nothing we do matters. I do not care who we run on what ticket, position; they will loose. May God protect, bless, and lead us.

******************HB 27 – Recovery of Damages to Natural ResourcesThis bill will give the state the right to take your private property to “restore it” from environmental damage. The language of the bill is very vague, and does not provide for any compensation.  I understand that this Bill will be heard on Monday although I do not have details about it yet.
HB 78 – URGENT – Environmental Board Climate Change Policies

ENVIRONMENTAL BOARD CLIMATE CHANGE POLICIES

Sponsor: James Roger Madalena
Current Location: House Energy & Natural Resources Committee

This is New Mexico’s Cap and Trade. If you haven’t read this Bill please do so. This bill will allow the Environmental Improvement Board to regulate CO2 emissions in the state. This is an unelected board appointed by Governor Richardson. We can not let this happen.

This bill was first brought up on Monday in the House Energy & Natural Resources Committee. The small room was filled.  The Chairman, Representative Madalena, asked how many were for this bill only four people raised their hands. The Chair promptly delayed the bill till Friday. On Friday the House Energy & Natural Resources Committee moved to a larger room. Once again the room was overflowing with people standing outside in the Hallway. The Chairman once again asked how many are for this bill and on Friday more hands were raised but not as many as those whose hands were not raised. Once again the Chairman delayed the bill now till Monday.

According to one source, passage of this Bill would, in effect, put the State government in control of New Mexico’s natural resources.  It would be devastating to our state!

In an unprecedented move this bill will be heard in the House Gallery at 8:00am. We need you there! Do you want CAP and TRADE? If not please be there this Monday FEBRUARY 1st. Now is your time to STEP UP and STOP this bill.

************HB 123 – Same Day Voter Registration Previous emails regarding HB 123 included some wrong information.  Please note that this is a HOUSE Bill, not a SENATE bill, so you should contact HOUSE members rather than SENATE members.  Sorry for passing on the wrong information.  You can find all committee members by going to www.nmlegis.gov, search for House committees, where you will find all members listed.
HB 123 has now been assigned to the HOUSE Consumer and Public Affairs Committee.  If it passes there, it will move to the HOUSE Voters and Elections Committee.  If it passes there, it will go to the floor of the HOUSE for a vote. If passed by the HOUSE, it then goes to the SENATE for the same process.  House Republicans are strongly opposed to this bill, so our protests should be focused on the Democrats.  The League of Women Voters and the County Clerks support this bill, so we need to make sure we have a lot of people in these committee hearings to show our opposition.

********Where to find additional information. As stated above, information on all of the Bills and contact information for all of the Legislators can be found at www.nmlegis.gov.  There is also a link to Agendas and Calendars, which does post all meetings – however, as we have learned, things can change quickly – time change, rooms change, committee assignments change.  Again, you can sign up for text alerts or call your Legislator’s office to find out the latest information.
